Follow-On Crops

Jobs today focused on follow-on crops.  So it was off to the allotment to prepare a bed for the sprouts and plant them out and get the new pea support built and the second batch of peas planted.  This end of the bed is now looking rather different as the first early spuds get replaced.

Overall the allotment is growing well and the following pictures show how much has moved on in the last four to five weeks.

Today’s harvest led to my first attempt at cooking beetroot, which worked out quite nicely and ended up in a home grown salad with mange tout, peas, radishes and leaves.  The plethora of fresh vegetables is leading to healthy eating (if not necessarily slim thanks to the salad dressings and the butter on the potatoes).
